Team905 p/b Steelmark Business Services Photo Shoot with Lucky73!

On a cool but sunny Thursday evening Team905 gathered in Dain City, Ontario for the first annual team pictures.

It was great to have all the guys out in the same location and seeing all the Team905 jerseys was very exciting.  Organizing these types of nights can be challenging due to the busy lives everyone has with work, family, travel, etc. The team was great and made a great effort to be available for the couple of hours we needed everyone!

Lucky73 was fantastic to work with. Dave was very flexible and made the entire process enjoyable.

Here is sample of a team picture taken on the Dain City train bridge. More photos will be shared in the near future. Look for individual team member pictures and bios in the next couple of weeks.

Race Reports from Easter Weekend! Good Friday Road Race & Jordan 5K

This weekend Team905 p/b Steelmark Business Services was represented at two races.

Good Friday Road Race

The first race had Jon Toews competing in the Good Friday Road Race, which was the Ontario Cup Road Series opener. Over the past few years the Good Friday Road Race has seemed to attract unfortunate situations and this years edition was no different. Prior to the start of the Master 1 men race (Jon's race) and elite men race a very unfortunate single car accident forced the event organizers to reroute the race course and reduce the race distances. Once the Master 1 race got underway (90 minutes late) the field didn't waste anytime to get down to serious racing. As the first 2 laps passed by the strong and eager field decided to use the cross wind and yellow line to their advantage in an effort to blow the race apart. As this strategy continued racers found themselves forced against the yellow line fighting for valuable shelter from the wind.

Near the end of lap 3 the race was abruptly neutralized and all racers disqualified for violating the yellow line rule. For those that aren't familiar with road racing, most road racing events don't have closed roads and all racers must stay on the right side of the yellow line. All the details are not known yet, which the Ontario Cycling Association will report on shortly, but reports from the race have indicated that racers were crossing the yellow line trying to get out of the wind and resulting in the DQ of all racers. So, this was not the results that Jon or Team905 was looking for in the first O-Cup race, but there are many races to come this season. Thank you to Jon for representing Team905 at this event. Jon has had a strong spring training program and will take that early fitness to his next race.

Jon in an early break attempt!

Jordan 5K

In the second race of the weekend was the Subaru Niagara Running Series Jordan 5K race. This is the first race of the Subaru Running series, which tests early running form. Team905 was represented by Isaac Goertz at the 13th running of this event, which was held in Jordan, Ontario.

With a very competitive field Isaac set a goal of running under 20 minutes. The deep competition resulted in a course record of 14:43 and Isaac running sub 20 minutes and setting a personal best of 19:43. This personal best put Isaac 5th in his age category (30-35) and 38th overall in a field of 355. Congratulations Isaac!
